Pekin - Lowell Charles Rupp, 85, of Pekin passed away at 2:03 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Morton Terrace HealthCare and Rehabilitation Centre in Morton.
Born April 16, 1928, in Pekin to Grover and Ina Katherine (Norris) Rupp, he married Norma Ione Wilson on Nov. 29, 1964, in Henry.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Christopher Todd Rupp of Chicago; two daughters, Vicki Lynn (John) Bergerhouse of Loveland, Ohio, and Dr. Melinda (Michael) Kirsch of Vestal, N.Y.; and two grandsons, Ely Zachary Kirsch and Noah Sebastian Kirsch, both of Vestal, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Phyllis.
Lowell worked at Standard Brands in Pekin from 1946 until the plant closed in 1971. He later was a custodian for Pekin Public Schools District 108 from 1971 to 1993, working mostly at Jefferson School.
He attended Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Lowell was a wonderful husband and dad. He loved his dogs, Molly and Bella. A diehard Chicago Cubs fan, Lowell was also a fan of the Chicago Bears and University of Illinois.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Gary Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Hopedale.
