CREVE COEUR - Lucille Jean Gilliatt, 96, of Creve Coeur passed away at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Heartland Health Care Center in Peoria.
Born Nov. 11, 1916, in Pekin to John and Guytana (Lanza) Sciortino, she married Donald Louis Gilliatt on Nov. 28, 1935, in Pekin. He died Jan. 4, 2003.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carol Jean Gilliatt on Aug. 4, 1997; one son, Donald Kenneth Gilliatt on June 3, 2001; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Rose Guarrine and Matilda "Tillie" Hayes; and three brothers, Sam Sciortino, Leo Sciortino and Frank Sciortino.
Surviving are one son, Richard "Dick" (Beverly) Gilliatt of Creve Coeur; one daughter, Judi Schorr; five grandchildren, Donald Schorr and Cynthia (Todd) Thousand, both of Pekin, Richard Gilliatt Jr. and Sherrell Gilliatt, both of Creve Coeur, and Michelle (Richard) Schaefer of East Peoria; three stepgrandchildren, Mike (Sherri) Schorr of Chillicothe, Ralph (Jeanette) Schorr of Monroe, La., and Chuck Schorr of Beaufort, S.C.; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Friederich of Santa Ana, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Lucille and her husband owned and operated Gilliatt Lanes in Creve Coeur for many years.
She was a member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Creve Coeur.
Lucille enjoyed traveling and bowling in her past years.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur. Father Michael Andrejek will be the celebrant. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
