PEORIA - Mary Chapman Mossner, 93, of Peoria passed away at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Rosewood Care Center of Peoria, her life coming full circle as she died on her birthday.
Mary was born April 1, 1921, in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of George A. and Lois E. Wolcott Downey. She married Robert A. Chapman Jr. on June 24, 1944, in Springfield, Mass. He died Sept. 23, 1998, in Peoria. She then married Eugene O. Mossner on Jan. 26, 2002, in Peoria. He died March 26, 2010, in Peoria.
Surviving are one daughter, Janice (Charles) Morrill of Peoria; one daughter-in-law, Judy Chapman of Davenport, Iowa; five grandchildren, Robert A. (Beth) Chapman IV, Mark (Jolyn) Chapman, Amy (Jeff) Werner, Chad (Emily) Morrill and Paige (Brett) Dean; one brother, Wolcott M. Downey of Newbury, Mass.; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; one son, Robert A. Chapman III; and one brother, George Downey.
Mary worked as a secretary at Illinois Mutual Insurance Co. in Peoria and later served as the parish secretary for 23 years at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Peoria, where she was a member.
She was also a member of Opera Illinois League, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, Proctor Hospital Service League and the Oliver Wolcott Family Society.
Cremation has been accorded. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. The Rev. James M. Clement will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral services. Burial of ashes will be in the columbarium at St. Paul's.
