Washington - Melba J. Coffman, 75, of Washington, Ill., died at 12:01 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Melba was born on April 16, 1938, in Rolla, Mo., to Albert and Anna Haas Benad. She married Rollin Coffman on June 30, 1962, in Peoria, Ill. He survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Frost of Kearney, Mo., and Ann (Chester) Merrill of Hot Springs, Ark.; three nieces, Debbie (David) Doak of Smithville, Mo., Karen (David) Carter of Mason, Mich., and Sabrina (Bob) Byrnes of Liberty, Mo.; and one nephew, Brian Delgado of Locust Grove, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harry Benad and Charles Benad; and brother-in-law, Lewis Frost.
Melba worked for Choice Point/Customer Development Corporation in Peoria as a mailing supervisor, retiring in 2001 after 43 years of service.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria.
There will be a funeral service for Melba at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Evan Williams will officiate. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
