CANTON - Michael P. Ranallo, 64, of Canton died at 1:14 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 10, 1948, to Michael E. and Dorothy (Lattyak) Ranallo. He married Barbara Barron in Canton on March 26, 1977. She survives.

Other survivors include two children, Coral L. Ranallo of Canton and Michael B. (Katie) Ranallo of Morris; two grandchildren, Emily and Tyler Ranallo; and his sister, Joanne V. Ranallo of Lake Zurich.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

After graduating with an engineering degree from the University of Illinois, Mike worked at International Harvester, later transitioning to Komatsu, where he retired after 20 years of service. He currently was employed as vice president of sales and marketing for SMS Equipment in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, which deals in heavy mining equipment. He was also the current chairman of the Mining Suppliers Association of British Columbia and sat on the board of directors of the Mining Association of BC.

Mike was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Canton American Legion Post 16.

He enjoyed hunting and was a member of Duck's Unlimited.

An avid golfer, Mike was a member of the former Canton Country Club for over 40 years, and was currently a member at Turtle Creek Country Club in Tequesta, Fla.

Hooked on Miracles in Canada, which helps to support the BC Children's Hospital, was a charity he was regularly involved with through British Columbia's mining industry.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held two hours prior. The Reverend Michael Brooks will officiate. Entombment will be at Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Canton.
