PEORIA - Reginald Vernon "Reg" Sipfle, 81, of North Port, Fla., formerly of Peoria, passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at McLaren's Chapel in Des Moines, Iowa, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Reg was born June 11, 1932, in Los Angeles, Calif., to William R. and Rae Burketta Sipfle. They moved to Peoria, Ill., where he graduated from Woodruff High School. Reg attended Bradley University, graduating in 1954 with a BS in Business Administration. He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity.
In 1957, he became the personnel director for the City of Peoria. In 1972, Reg moved to Des Moines, Iowa, to accept the position of Civil Service Administrator, where he worked until retirement.
Reg was united in marriage to Norma Jean Eberley in 1955, and together they raised four children.
He was a lifelong bowler and golfer, with one perfect game of 300 and two holes-in-one. Reg was always up for anything and even studied Tae Kwon Do in his fifties. He was an avid Bears fan, attending Bears training camp with his fraternity brothers. Reg loved to travel, but most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family. He will be remembered for his corny sense of humor, his habit of breaking into song and his loyalty to friends.
He is survived by his four children, Nancy (John) Woestman, William (Tammy) Sipfle, James (Carol) Sipfle and Edward (Karen) Sipfle; his 11 grandchildren, Joseph (Jenna) Woestman, Anthony (Kristina) Woestman, James (Meagan) Woestman, Kevin Woestman, Eric Woestman, Emily Sipfle, Abby (Richard) Ward, Rachel Sipfle, Nicole Sipfle, Bailey Sipfle and William Sipfle; and one great-grandchild, Ana Woestman.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Norma Sipfle, in 1999, and his second wife, Blanche Wazny Sipfle, in 2011.
