BARTONVILLE - Richard Eugene Kelley, 81, of Bartonville passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at 9:49 a.m. at Fondulac Woods Healthcare Center in East Peoria.
He was born Aug. 27, 1931, to Albert and Cecil (Crump) Kelley in Peoria. He married Barbara Gerber on Oct. 4, 1958, in Bartonville.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Karen (Steve) Hermacinski of Bartonville, Dawn Kelley of Peoria Heights, and Sandy Keene (Tammy Anglemyer) of Dodge City, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Heather, Sarah, Devanti, Kellen, Danielle, Katherine, Kyle, and Kelley Jo; and 2 great-grandchildren, Faith and Evan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael Kelley.
Richard served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1955.
He was a millwright at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 38 years, retiring in 1993.
Richard was a member of Bartonville United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee chairman.
He loved fishing and ceramics. He volunteered at Proctor Hospital for several years doing Blue Coat escort. He was a jack-of-all trades who could build or fix anything.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Bartonville. Reverend Linda Richard will be officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
