PEORIA - Richard "Dick" William Tingleff, 85, of Peoria passed away at 2:38 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2014, at Christian Buehler Memorial Home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Clinton, Iowa, to Leonard Nelson and Margaret Alice (Johnston) Tingleff. He married Moira Christina Bateman on May 19, 1956, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2009.
He is survived by two sons, Richard J. (Shelley) Tingleff of Peoria, Ill., and William T. (Andrea) Tingleff of New Braunfels, Texas; two granddaughters, Jenna Elizabeth Tingleff and Nora Margaret Tingleff; and one grandson, Reginald David Tingleff.
Dick graduated from Clinton High School in 1946 and from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1952. He was a member of the Gamma chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at the University of Iowa.
He established and owned Tingleff Pharmacy in 1960 and later established Lincoln Avenue Pharmacy. He was a well respected and trusted pharmacist who served the West Bluff and South End communities for over 50 years. After retiring from Tingleff Pharmacy, he established Rocky Glen Mini Storage in 1999.
He was a member of the Mohammed Shriners, Scottish Rite, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Valley of Peoria; Scottish Rite, Valley of Clinton, Orient of Iowa; Grand Lodge of Iowa, A.F.&A.M., Masonic Lodge Member for 50-plus years; and Elks Lodge 20 in Peoria Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home, 428 W. McClure Ave., Peoria.
