EAST PEORIA - Rickie D. Grashoff, 65, of East Peoria, Ill., passed away at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at his home.
Rick was born on May 29, 1949, in Pekin to Walter and Elvira (Neisman) Grashoff. He married Glenda Sue Bomer on March 13, 2001, in Pekin.
His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Glenda of East Peoria; two sons, Mike Grashoff of Tennessee and Joshua Grashoff of East Peoria; two daughters, Jessica (Curtis) Beiersdorf of Peoria and Shellie (Jeremy) Benson of Brimfield, Ill.; six grandchildren, Eric and Madison Grashoff, Xander Beiersdorf, Jeremiah, Luke and Matthew Benson; one great-granddaughter, Leah Grasshoff; two brothers, Joe (Mary) Shallenberger of Pekin and Ronnie (Rita) Grashoff of Lewistown, Ill.; and one sister, Pat (Jake) Sturm of Pekin.
Rick work for D.J. Mahoney Construction until 1986. He then worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation until 2012, when he retired after 26 years. He currently was working as a Tazewell County Bailiff.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was a member of the Twin Oaks Missionary Baptist Church in East Peoria, Teamster Local 623, President of Teamsters Retirement group and Republican Party. He was named Tazewell County Republican of the year in 2009.
Rick loved his family very much.
Rick was a fan of all sports but especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, golfing and bowling.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Twin Oaks Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Myers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Drive, Pekin and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Groveland Mennonite Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
