PEKIN - Robert Link Howard, 84, of Pekin passed away at 6:05 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at Pekin Manor.
Born Aug. 22, 1928, in Dover, Tenn., to Robert H. and Anna Eliza (Link) Howard, he married Mitzi Toletha (Schone) Carpenter on Dec. 18, 1971, in Washington. She survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Lucy K. Adams of St. Louis, Mo., and Deane (Richard) Davis of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews including Marla Caldwell, who resided with the Howards. He also leaves many family members and dear friends and his two beloved poodles, Suzi and Buddy.
A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, Bob attained the rank of staff sergeant.
He worked for Pabst Brewing Company in Peoria Heights for 25 years as a sales driver. Bob retired in 1986.
Bob loved cars and clocks and enjoyed attending estate sales.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Johnny Creasong will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, both at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria, with military rites accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
