PEORIA - Robert F. "Bob" Madison, age 79, of Mentor, Ohio, formerly of Peoria, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013.
He was born April 22, 1934 in Chicago, Ill.
Mr. Madison was a graduate of the University of Illinois, with a degree in journalism.
He began his Caterpillar career in Peoria, Ill., and transferred to Hong Kong, returning to Caterpillar's Towmotor Division in Mentor, from which he retired. He then finished his career as a freelance writer.
He was also an avid supporter of the arts, music, theater and was a world traveler.
Survivors include his wife and love of his life of 57 years, Carol (Andrews); daughters, Sherry (Bill) Miller of Massachusetts and Paula Manta of Illinois; son, Bruce Alan (Christine Mallula) Madison of Middleburg Heights, Ohio; and grandchildren, Erica, Alex and Zachary Manta and Billy and Andy Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Alice Madison; and brother, Stuart Madison.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
