TOLUCA - Robert E. Matarelli Sr., 83, formerly of Toluca, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at The Lighthouse of Superior in Superior, Wis.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Toluca, with Fr. Hans Flonder officiating. Burial will follow with military graveside rites at St. Ann's Cemetery in Toluca. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. with visitation to follow until 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in Toluca.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church, the Toluca Ambulance fund or a .

Robert was born Oct. 21, 1930, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Adam and Giovanna "Jenny" Bartolomucci Matarelli. He married Mary Clare Ghiglieri on July 5, 1965, in Toluca. She preceded him in death on Aug. 16, 1999.

Surviving are his two children, Ann Marie (Robert) Matarelli Walker of Southlake, Texas, and Robert E. (Jodi) Matarelli Jr. of Superior, Wis.; six grandchildren, Andrew, Amanda, Nicholas and Clare Walker and Samantha and Megan Matarelli; and two sisters-in-law, Edith (John) Matarelli and Rosetta (Guy) Matarelli, both of Peoria, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters, Elvira (Frank) Cicciarelli, Julius (Betty) Matarelli, Anita Matarelli, Gilda Matarelli, Guido (Guy) Matarelli, Sylvia (Orville) Frank and John Matarelli.

Robert was a member of the Toluca Rotary Club, the Illinois Bankers Association, and a longtime member of St. Ann's Catholic Church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1952 to 1954.

He worked as a loan officer at Citizens National Bank in Toluca and was a member of Tall Oaks Country Club.

He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors and was a lifelong automobile enthusiast.
