PEORIA HEIGHTS - Robert D. Reddick Jr., 59, of Peoria Heights, Ill., passed away at 12:25 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, in the UnityPoint Health-Methodist emergency room.

Robert was born on July 13, 1954, in Peoria, Ill., to Robert D. and Dorothea (Coleman) Reddick Sr.

Robert is survived by four sisters, Nerissa Reddick, Kimberly Reddick, Ramona Erving and Jessica Catron, all of Peoria; one brother, Lennie Gulley of Houston, Texas; a special friend, Elder Will Maxison; and a host of many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Robert was a 1972 graduate of Manual High School and was later a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler.

Robert was very active in his church, Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ. He was a former board member, Sunday school teacher, choir member, Brother of Love singing group member, associate minister and culinary staff member.

Funeral services will be held at his church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, with a visitation one hour earlier, beginning at 9 a.m. Bishop Henry Bolden II will officiate. Robert will be laid to rest in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Ill., on Monday, March 10, 2014. Military rites will be accorded.
