PEORIA - Robert L. Zang, 82, formerly of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014.
Our beloved father, sibling and friend has gone to his final rest.
Bob was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Kewanee, Ill., to Louis and Rozella Zang. He graduated from Spalding Institute in Peoria, Ill., and received his B.S. degree at the University of Illinois.
After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he returned to Peoria, Ill., and entered the trucking business and made this his career for 38 years. He retired in 1992 and moved to Daytona Beach, Fla.
Bob was active with Family Renew Community in Daytona Beach, Fla., where he served on the board and also as treasurer for a number of years.
He was predeceased by Therese Grant Zang, his wife of 50 years; and his daughter, Janet Carrier.
He is survived by his sons, Bill Zang and wife, Tashie, of Bellingham, Wash., and Dan Zang and wife, Janet, of Lakewood, Colo.; and daughters, Susan Fernau and husband, Scott, of Broomfield, Colo., Linda Zang and husband, Curtis Anderson, of Coburg, Ore., and Laura Zang of Longmont, Colo. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Zang of Glenview, Ill., and Jim Zang of Port Orange, Fla.; and one sister, Sarah Crahan of San Diego, Calif.
