PEORIA - Roger Oliver Erickson of Rice Lake, Wis., formerly of Peoria, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Rice Lake.

Roger was born in Radisson, Wis., on May 11, 1922. He grew up in Rice Lake and graduated from Rice Lake High School. He then attended Stout University and later transferred to Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

Roger served in the U.S. Army from 1940 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He resided in Peoria, Ill., where he retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1987. Roger moved back to Rice Lake, Wis., where he married Helen L. Larson in 1990.

Roger was an active and lifelong member of AMVETS in Peoria, Ill., the Elks Lodge and the American Legion of Rice Lake, Wis.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; a daughter, Sally (Mike) Thompson; three stepchildren, Craig "Marty" Larson, Chris (Dan) Morin and Leslie (Harold) Ely; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Burial of remains will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wis., at a later date.

Memorials are preferred to Rice Lake Elks Lodge No. 1441, 36 E. Eau Claire St., Rice Lake, WI 54868.

Chippewa Valley Cremation Services of Altoona, Wis., is serving the family.
