PEORIA - Ronald Boone, 80, of Peoria passed away at 6:11 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Ronald was born on Feb. 18, 1934, in Peoria to Charles and Beatrice (Trumbo) Boone. He married Josephine Thompson on Oct. 26, 1952, in Peoria. She survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Desiree and Rhonda Boone; two sons, Duane Douglas and Durwin (Sandra Kay) Dean; one brother, Andrew (Judith) Boone; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Iva McPike, Betty Stewart and Joan Allen; and two brothers, Charles and Bobby Boone.

Ronald was a U.S. Army veteran, serving honorably during the Korean Conflict.

He retired from Caterpillar Inc. on Dec. 1, 1991, with 39 years of service, last working in East Peoria.

Ronald was a 33rd Degree Mason; Past Master of Henry Brown Lodge 22; Past Grand Master of Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge State of Illinois and its jurisdictions; member of Menelik Consistory 49, Valley of Springfield; GIG and Past Potentate of the United Supreme Council; and life member of Kamar Temple 56, AEAONMS.

Ronald was a lifelong and faithful member of Mount Zion M.B. Church, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, beginning at 9 a.m. Pastor Alphonso Lyons Jr., will officiate. Masonic rites will be accorded at 10:30 a.m. Ronald will be laid to rest in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Ill., with full Army military honors.
