PEKIN - Ronald Eugene Grube, 67, of Pekin passed away at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 22, 1947, in Pekin to Wilbert and Wanda (Brent) Grube.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Grube and Scott (Nicole) Grube, both of Pekin; two daughters, Erika Gilmore of Pekin and Kelly (Randy) Painter of Virginia; six grandchildren; and one sister, Jean Benniger of Creve Coeur.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant children.
Ronald served in the United States Army in Vietnam and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Silver Star.
He worked for the United States Postal Service for 40 years, retiring in 2007. Ron was a recipient of the "Million Mile Award" for walking one million miles for the Postal Service.
Ron enjoyed hunting with his dog, Korky, entertaining friends and family and relaxing in his recliner with his cat, Skeeter, on his lap.
A celebration of life gathering will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 715 S. 11th St., in Pekin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
