WASHINGTON - Ronald P. Lind, 82, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Washington, passed away suddenly on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, after celebrating his 61st wedding anniversary with his wife, Alyce, and friends at dinner.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., on May 21, 1931, to Robert and Hazel Lind.
He had a very successful career in insurance for 45 years, retiring in 1997 to Sun City.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Korea.
He loved the Cubs, Notre Dame, the Bears, horse racing and playing cards (poker).
He was a member of the Bocce Club (past president), Chicago Cook County Club and Wisconsin Club of Sun City West.
He served as property inspector at Oakmont Rec Center for 10 years, served on the Insurance Committee and helped teach bocce ball with the Special Olympics.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Alyce; sons, Charles (Bonnie) and James (Nikki); grandchildren, Eric (Angela), Jason, Wesley, Jennifer and Melissa; and great-granddaughters, Rosalie and Holly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Robert.
He loved his family very much, and we will miss him "Always!"
He was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus and member of St. Joachim & St. Anne Catholic Church.
Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at St. Joachim & St. Anne Catholic Church, 11625 N. 111th Ave., Sun City, Ariz., with a reception to follow in St. Anne's Hall. Interment, with military honors, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ.
