ELMWOOD - Russell Korth, 87, of Elmwood passed away at 11:41 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born on Nov. 6, 1925, in Illinois to Frank and Ruth Thatcher Korth. They preceded him in death. He married Corrinne Griffith, the mother of his four children. He later married Kathy Emery and lastly married Francis Schnetzler. They all preceded him in death, along with his daughter, Virginia Korth.
Surviving are three sons, Tom (Cindy) Korth of Bartonville, Dale (Chris) Korth of Oxford, Wis., and Larry Korth of Elmwood; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Russell was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran, serving in the Korean War.
He farmed all of his life in the Elmwood area.
He was a 4-H club leader, enjoyed singing at weddings and other special events and was active in the Pekin Barbershop Chorus. He played the Vibra harp at many events. He enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Florida. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at the Elmwood Township Cemetery.
