ROANOKE - Stephen Hasty, 64, of Roanoke, Ill., passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home at 8:55 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2013.
He was born on Nov. 25, 1948, in Peoria, Ill., to Carl and Mildred Winkler Hasty. He married Valerie M. Behnke on May 13, 1972, in Congerville, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Grant Hasty of Roanoke, Ill.; and Aaron (Sarah) Hasty of East Peoria, Ill.; one daughter, Sheri Seggerman of Lafayette, Calif.; his mother, Mildred Bowman of Bloomington, Ill., and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl.
Stephen worked in the maintenance department at Parsons Co.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club. Stephen enjoyed time spent with his family and grandchildren.
An Army veteran, he served during the Vietnam War, where he received the Army Accommodation medal and Bronze Star. He was a member of the Roanoke American Legion Post 463.
Memorial graveside services with military rites will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Roanoke Township Cemetery. Dwight Winnett will officiate. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke is assisting the family with arrangements.
