EAST PEORIA - Susan M. Ruppert, 55, of East Peoria, Ill., passed away at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at her home after an extended illness.
She was born on Jan. 14, 1958, in Pana, Ill., to Milton L. and Clarice L. Bagley Ruppert.
Surviving are her mother, Clarice Ruppert of Nokomis, Ill.; one brother, Allen (Martha) Ruppert of Hillsboro, Ill.; two sisters, Phyllis (Don) McGuire of Springfield, Ill., and Jan (Roger) Bauman of Nokomis, Ill.; her best friend, Denise Romersberger of East Peoria, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Milton Ruppert in 2010; brother, Jim Ruppert in 1991; niece, Melissa Bauman in 1986; and nephew, Jeffrey Bauman in 1991.
Sue graduated from Nokomis High School in 1976 as co-valedictorian and then attended Illinois State University followed by the University of Illinois. She was a member of many honor societies and active in organizations such as 4-H, FFA, FHA and GAA. Sue graduated with honors from the University of Illinois Allied Health Science Department at the Medical Center in Chicago, Ill., in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy.
She worked as a registered physical therapist until her illness required her to retire. She loved her job and was blessed with the special gift of very sensitive hands which allowed her to help may people who were in need.
Sue was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Washington, Ill., since 1984 when she committed her life to Christ. Other members of this church family became her closest friends. The love and support they gave her in Christ's name over the years was her greatest blessing in life.
Sue published the book "Inspirations" which is a collection of her poetry over the years. The books are available from her family. She also did cross stitching of quilt blocks and made many beautiful quilts.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Washington Apostolic Christian Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and also one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Nokomis, 22009 E. 19th Road. Family will receive friends after the services in the basement of the church school.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be made to Washington Apostolic Christian Church Charity Fund or the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
