EAST PEORIA - Teresa M. Kazense, age 52, of East Peoria passed away to her home in heaven on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 13, 1961, in Peoria to James and Leota (Newell) Vaughan. She married the love of her life and best friend Jack Kazense on Feb. 14, 1982, in Sunnyland.
He survives along with her mother and stepfather, Leota and Jack Cunningham of East Peoria; two daughters, Kambria Kazense of Washington and Andrea (Sean) Rennau of Washington; two grandsons, Jacob Wright of Washington and Devon Byrd of Washington; two brothers, Ron (Cheryl) Vaughan of Eureka and Randy Vaughan of East Peoria; one sister, Tammi (Ron) Miller of East Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, James "Ron" Vaughan; and one sister, Deborah Vaughan.
Teresa was a registered nurse for 20 years at Pekin Pediatrics, last working in October 2012. She truly loved her career and absolutely adored each and every one of her patients, as they did her.
Teresa felt blessed to be a wish granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Teresa was a lifelong follower of Jesus, she possessed an unwavering faith in the power of Christ and prayed diligently for all of her family and friends - right up to the day of her death.
She currently attended Rock Church in East Peoria. Previously, she was member of Highview Church of God in Washington, where she taught Sunday school for eight years and was very active in Bible Mountaineers and Vacation Bible School programs.
She was a beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister, daughter and aunt. She touched and blessed each and every person she came into contact with. She was the rock, the heart, and the soul of our family. She meant the world to us. She will forever be missed and never forgotten.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
