PEORIA - William Brown Jr., 88, of Peoria passed away at 9:28 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Shreveport, La., to William and Eva Brown Sr. They preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by daughter, Sandra; one infant son; two sisters; and four brothers.
Surviving are five children, Paula of Los Angeles, Calif., William III of Dallas, Texas, Byron Sr. of Peoria, Mike Sr. of Peoria and Annette of Indianapolis, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Jack of Shreveport, La.; two sisters, Laverne of Shreveport, La., and Lucille of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
William was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in Guadalcanal.
He worked as a photographer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for over 40 years, retiring from the Agricultural Lab in Peoria in 1985.
He was an avid bowler and was formerly active in Peoria area leagues.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria with military honors.
