PEORIA - William "Bill" Foster, age 95, of Peoria, formerly of Table Grove, Ill., passed away at 9:53 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, at Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Peoria Heights.

He was born on Oct. 10, 1918, in Table Grove, a son of Marshall and Grace (Byerly) Foster. On Aug. 21, 1948, Bill married Marie Strehlow in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughter, Marcia (and Rhea) Taylor of Peoria; his son, Michael (and Wendy) Foster of Downers Grove, Ill.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Bill was employed at Block and Kuhl Company in Peoria for 40 years. He also was proud of the farms he managed in the Table Grove area.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1943 to 1952, with a rank of 1st Lt. He was a graduate of Northwestern University. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and the Table Grove Community Church. He was past commander of the Table Grove American Legion and a 50-year member of the Vermont Masonic Lodge.

Bill was very active in the Corn Stock Theatre in Peoria for many years, both in production and on the stage.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at the Table Grove Community Church. Pastor Rob Harrison will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services. Interment will be private in the Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. Another celebration of life service will be held on Bill's birthday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Independence Village in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to the Table Grove Fire and Rescue Squad or the American Legions in either Ipava or Vermont.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lee and the caring staff of Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and OSF Hospice for their care of Bill in his final days.
