Charles Chiusano, 98 years old, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL died on February 17, 2013. Chuck was born on October 21, 1914 on North Fifth Street in Brooklyn, NY. He attended New York University. His career spanned over seven decades, as an executive for Childs Restaurants, Holly Corporation, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Restaurant Associates, L'Oreal of France, and he was the last General Manager of the Sherman House Hotel in Chicago. In 1972 at the age of 58 he became an entrepreneur taking a failing small New York City messenger service and turning it into a successful tri state courier and logistics firm, Avant Business Services. He enjoyed all forms of competition be it behind a desk or on a playing field. An original Leather Head, Chuck played college football at NYU. He went on to have a very successful career as a highly regarded center for the fledging minor league Football squad the Long Island Valley Stream Red Rider. He was a gifted bowler and a dedicated golfer who had 11 holes in one. Chuck was a member of the Pelham Country Club, Pelham, NY for 57 years and of the BallenIsles County Club in Florida for 26 years. Mr. Chiusano traveled extensively and was fluent in four languages. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Ethel Sandin Chiusano, and is survived by his eight children, John of Sarasota, FL, Charles of Fairfield, CT, Christine Chiusano Fuller of Spring Hill, FL, Thomas of Pelham Manor, NY and Singer Island, FL, Frank of Ridgefield, CT, and Singer Island, FL, James of Stamford, CT, Laura Chiusano Brewster of West Palm Beach, FL, and Mark of Lake Mary, FL. He leaves behind 26 grand and great-grandchildren, six daughters-in-law, one son-in-law and several nieces and nephews. The family plans to hold a private memorial service in New York in the Spring. Donations to Hospice by the Sea, Boca Raton, FL are welcomed.
