McCORMICK, Elaine (nee Lavary)

Elaine McCormick (nee Lavary), affectionately known to family members as "Boss Lady" Mrs. Elaine McCormick passed away peacefully at home on December 12, 2013. Born January 25, 1934, Elaine McCormick attended St. Peter and Paul grammar school. Mrs. McCormick became a Licensed Practical Nurse after successfully completing classes at Special Surgery of New York City, NY and was employed there for five years. She then moved to Keansburg, NJ with her husband Mel Rosario where she worked at King James Nursing Home and also did private duty nursing in Colt's Neck, NJ. Mrs. McCormick was very active in the Middletown Elks, Lodge #2179 and she was president of the Women's Auxiliary. She organized travel vacations to benefit the local charities, conducted fashion shows and auctions to benefit handicapped children and ran the Drug Awareness Committee for the Middletown Elks Lodge. As a widow Mrs. McCormick moved to Florida in 2002 where she married longtime friend Jim McCormick (newsboy). Mrs. McCormick became very active in Columbiettes at St. Vincent's Ferrer Catholic Church and VFW Post 5335. She was also very active in her Briny Breezes community directing shows, parades and clubs. Mrs. McCormick also attended clown school with her husband Jim. Mrs. McCormick was preceded in death by her first husband Mel Rosario, her son Larry Quinn, step-son Anthony Rosario. She is survived by her husband James McCormick, step-sons James McCormick, Jr., Patrick McCormick, Sean McCormick and step-daughter Jennifer Colon, grandson John Quinn (Jesse), great-granddaughter Amelia Quinn, sister Mary Ann Stark, daughter-in-law Cathy Quinn and Cecilia. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 20 10:00 AM at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd, Delray Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate donations in Mrs. McCormick's name to Hospice of Palm Beach County.
