Helen Hamilton PICKETT Obituary
PICKETT, Helen Hamilton

Helen Hamilton Pickett peacefully passed away on Oct 7th in Greenville, SC, with family at her bedside. She was born in 1929 in Sciotoville, Ohio and would have been 84 years old this Halloween. After graduating from The Ohio State University, she moved to South Florida to escape the cold winters. She was an active member of the community; she started a Junior League Chapter, worked for the local PBS station and served as president of the PTA. She held several different jobs over her long career, finally retiring as Executive Secretary for Plant Operations at St. Mary's Hospital. She was known for her hospitality and generosity. Her Thanksgiving celebrations were legendary, welcoming anyone who did not have a place to go. Strangers would bring strangers, but all would leave as friends. As one of her granddaughters remarked, "Despite her health, despite her age, her vibrancy never dimmed. She is missed already. Safe journey Ma Pickett.' Survivors include her son Scott Pickett, daughter Wendy Palmer, and daughter Eve King (Eric). Helen is the grandmother of seven children. The family will receive visitors on October 19, 2013 from 3:00-5:00, followed by a memorial service at the home of her grandson Kenneth Bolton and his wife Stephanie, 309 W. Bushy Hill Rd., Duncan, SC. Condolences may be sent c/o Eve King, 102 Camelot Dr. Simpsonville, SC 29681.
