James Dale WHITED Obituary
WHITED, James Dale

James Dale Whited, age 78, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2014 with his devoted family by his side after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was born August 13, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from Perry High School in 1953, he, his brother, Bill and his parents, Bill and Margaret Whited made south Florida their permanent home. While living in Miami, Jim met Noel, his wife of 52 years. After graduating from the University of Florida, he worked as City Planner for Gainesville, FL. They relocated to California where he was the City Planner for San Diego and La Jolla. The family returned to Florida and lived in West Palm Beach for the last 45 years. During this time, he was a Land Designer & Urban Planner/Landscape Architect/City Planner and worked on projects across the country. Jim designed the first land use plan for the Village of Wellington, FL. He was most proud of the fact that he designed Fort Wilderness Campground at Walt Disney World, Orlando. In addition to being both a diehard Gator and Steeler fan, Jim loved to travel. He visited all 50 states and many countries in Europe and the Caribbean. He was an avid genealogist, a member of the Republican Executive Committee of Palm Beach County and a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Noel; two daughters, Kari (Joe) McCormick and Jill Christu (Keith); brother, William (Sally) Whited; aunt, Irma Hammond; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins all over the country. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County.
