Jules Pontre Winfree, 83, of Jupiter Inlet Colony, Florida, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 in West Palm Beach, Florida with his daughters by his side. He was born on March 7, 1930 to Patrick and Camille Winfree in Miami, Florida. Jules graduated from Miami Edison High School and earned his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Engineering & Soil Chemistry from University of Florida. He received a Ph.D. in Plant Physiology from Rutgers University. In 1959, Jules began a long career in the aerospace industry at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft and was awarded several patents. He was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus, numerous volunteering positions in his church and community and was an avid fisherman, target shooter and photographer. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. Jules is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eleanore, his sister, Patricia DeMatteo, his brother, John Winfree, four children: David Matthew Winfree (Nancy) of Fairport, New York; Juliana W. Parkes (John), of Chandler, Arizona; Erin W. Fox (Leo) of Boca Raton, Florida; Christopher Jules Winfree (Erin) of Piermont, New York. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Leo Sebastian Fox, Lauren Marie Fox, Natalie Elise Parkes, Emily Caroline Parkes, Grace Marie Winfree, Sarah Marie Winfree, Erica Wei Winfree. A funeral mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta, Florida on Saturday, August 17th at 10:30 A.M.
