ROBERT B. ABBE Age 95, of Riverbend Country Club, Tequesta, Fl, died November 1, 2010. The son of the late Walter and Miriam Abbe Jr., he was born in Pittsburg, PA on May 26, 1915. He was a graduate of The Kent School and Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Civil Engineering. Bob lived in Windham Center and Groton Long Point, CT, before moving permanently to Florida in 1987. After college Bob worked for Bethlehem Steel before joining Smith-Winchester Mfg. Co in South Windham CT as a senior executive. Later he joined the faculty of Thames Valley State Technical College, where he taught until his retirement in 1975. Bob was an active volunteer. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years. A member of several Volunteer Fire departments and was always on call for the Red Cross. Bob was an active lay reader at St Paul's, Windham Center, St Mark's in Mystic, Ct and Church of the Good Shepherd, Tequesta, FL. He was a lifelong Rotarian and was active in his fraternity Phi Sigma Kappa (Epsilon Deuteron Chapter) and was PSK's national president from 1962-1964. Bob's hobbies included playing golf, bridge and calling Bingo. He is survived by his wife Eleanor; daughter, Susan Abbe (Carl Austin) Durham CT; son, Patton Abbe (Christine Brocks ) Coral Springs, FL; granddaughter, Brie Abbe (Mwaura Ngomia) and great grandson Rio Mwaura, Brooklyn NY A Memorial Eucharist will be celebrated on Friday November 5, 2010 at 11am at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 400 Seabrook Rd, Tequesta. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Church of the Good Shepherd, Hospice of Palm Beach County, or a charity of donor's choice.
