Robert Ely Wright Freeman, 88, of Stuart, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2013, surrounded by his family at the Hay-Madeira Hospice. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ to Beatrice Othello Wright and Benjamin George Freeman, he lived most of his life in Westfield, NJ, Normandy Beach, NJ, and Stuart, FL. Bob, as he was known, loved his family. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed cooking and was a NY Football Giants season ticket holder for 52 years. He scored a hole-in-one on August 7, 1985 on the 17th hole at Echo Lake Country Club, Westfield, NJ. He also enjoyed traveling and dining in Manhattan. Bob is survived by his wife Virginia "Ginny" (Henderson) of 65 years, sons Bruce and Jon Freeman, daughter Cathy Tomlinson, daughters-in-law Kathy Freeman and Jill Freeman, son-in-law Jack Kornfeind, grandchildren Joey Tomlinson, Ben Freeman, Tim Freeman, Abby Tomlinson, Meghan Tomlinson, Jamie and Jessie Freeman and great grandchildren Caroline and Eleanor Tomlinson, Grace and Annabelle Freeman and brother Bruce Freeman. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all. He was preceded in death by son-in-law Joseph Tomlinson. Bob attended Princeton University in 1943 as part of the V-12 Naval Officers Training Program, as well as Harvard University and graduated from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II reaching the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. He was stationed aboard the attack supply ship U.S.S. Mercury assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and participated in numerous campaigns. The ship received five battle stars for World War II service and Bob was awarded the American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was very proud of his service to his country. He was President of Couse Manufacturing of Union, NJ, CEO of Roberts Equipment Company of Piscataway, NJ and CEO of W & H Systems of Carlstadt, NJ. He also owned and operated a luncheonette after the War in Union, NJ called the Peppermint Lounge. He was member and past President of Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, member and past Commodore of Normandy Beach Yacht Club and past President of the Winged Foot Cottages Association of Stuart, FL. He was also a member of the Rotary Club of Union, NJ. Special thanks to the Hay-Madeira Hospice House for their kindness and compassion. Memorial service is to be held at The Chapel at Mariner Sands, 6500 Mariner Sands Drive in Stuart, FL on Saturday, May 18th at 11:30 AM. Donations may be made in his name to the
