Former Pasadena resident James "Yogi" Clarke, 89, died Oct. 7, 2013 at his home in Lawton, Ok. Mr. Clarke was born Aug. 27, 1924, in Sunburst, NC, to J.H. Clark and Martha Louisa Clark. He and his family moved to Pasadena in 1936 where he was employed at Brown Shipyard until 1942 when he became old enough to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the U.S.S. Catskill in the Pacific from 1942 to 1944. After Mr. Clarke's discharge, he returned to Pasadena and was employed by Champion Paper Mill where he worked as an electrician for 42 years, retiring in 1986. After retirement, he continued to live in Pasadena until July 2013 when he moved to Lawton, Ok. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James and Sandra Clarke of Lawton, Ok., numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and good friend, Polly Caison. Mr. Clarke was preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark, his sisters, Iva and Vera and his brother Hubert. His son, James, wrote, "He was a good man, the best. I couldn't have asked for a better dad. He was loved and will be greatly missed. Until we meet again, so long my friend. I love you."
