Our beloved matriarch, Jerry Colwell (Lila Geraldine Williams), born Oct. 15, 1922 in Houston, TX to Henry M. and Annie Lou (Moore) Williams, passed away December 21, 2012 at home in LaPorte, TX., with her family at her side. She is survived by her children Martha Rut Sweatt (John B.) of LaPorte, Tx, Joyce Renee Edwards (Kenneth) of Lufkin, TX and H. Marcus Adams (Donna) of Keizer, Or, Janet Winkler (Louis) of Huffman, TX. and Patricia I. Fielding of Pasadena TX; sisters, Mary Ruth Ellis and Annie Blackwell (Jerry); brother, James Warren (Jimmy) Williams (Rosemary); grandsons, Alan Sweatt (Lori), Brent Sweatt (Brandi), Joshua Pate (Shannon), Wade Fielding (Jennifer), Lance Fielding (Melissa), Aaron Fielding (Lindsey), Ray Winkler (Melody), Andy Winkler (fiancee Briana), Curtis Edwards (Jennifer); granddaughters, Dena Speed (John), Kimberly Pate, Kim Graham (Richard), Molley Barrett (Tim), Rainey Ellwood (Ryan), Christina Brady (Ryan) and 30 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and many nieces, nephews and cousins both in TX and Alabama. She was preceeded in death by her husband, W.B. Colwell, parents, sisters, Doris Williams and Opal Olszewski (Chester), Brothers, H.T. (Jack) Williams (Joyce), Emmett Ralph (E.R.) Williams (Billie), R.B.Williams, grandson, Paul Winkler. Jerry was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard (SPARS). Jerry and Bill retired to Johnson City where they both became active in the community. Jerry was a member of the Eastern Star, where she served as Grand Worthy Matron twice and was a Life Member of the Texas PTA. She loved to read, work crossword and jigsaw puzzles, play cards, watch football and baseball games and shop. Jerry was a member of First United Methodist Church in LaPorte. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 1PM to 3PM with a funeral service following at 3PM in the Chapel at Grand View Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park.
