James Merl Chenoweth

James Merl 'Jim' Chenoweth, 89, of San Marino died
Sunday, August 18. He was born in Dayton, Ohio to Okla and Opie Chenoweth the older of two children. Jim was a Mechanical Engineer in the field of Heat Transfer Research first with C.F. Braun and later for Heat Transfer Research Inc. He attended Purdue University where he received his BS, MS and Ph.D. (1952) all in Mechanical Engineering. Jim served in WW II with the 84th Infantry Division in the European Theater where he received the Purple Heart. Jim was an active member of Holliston United Methodist Church for over 60 years. He was a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) where he served as National Chairman of the Heat Transfer Division. Jim also served on the ASME Auxiliary National Board.

Jim leaves behind his best friend and loving wife Carolyn - they celebrated 64 years of marriage together on June 12. Jim is also survived by their two children Douglas Chenoweth (Susan) of Medford, OR and Cindi Pool (Larry) of Lakewood, CA. He had 5 grandchildren Briana Genetti (Robert) of Lincoln, NE, Cari Kurciski (Sash) of Lincoln, NE, James Alan Chenoweth, MD of Sacramento, CA, Elizabeth Loveridge (Steve) of Santa Cruz, CA and James Levin Pool of Pleasanton, CA as well as 4 great grandchildren Jacob, Kaylee, Madison and Ellie. Jim is also survived by his sister Mary Jane Thomson (Ned) of Ann Arbor, MI.

Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday October 6, 2013 at Community Church at Holliston UMC, 1305 E. Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91106.
