Berkeley and his law degree from the USC Law School. In 1952, Bob joined the Army JAG Corps, spending his term of service in San Luis Obispo and near Limoges, France.
Bob practiced estate planning and tax law for 57 years, building up a
reputation for superior legal expertise and a warm, convivial relationship with clients and colleagues. A certified specialist in tax law and in estate planning trust and probate law, Bob was elected to the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, consisting of the top two percent of estate planning attorneys. He was also active for many years as an officer in the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the State Bar of California and the Pasadena Bar Association.

Traveling with his group of friends, Bob ran - and finished - the London Marathon, New York Marathon and Boston Marathon, among other races. Bob and this group also took regular vacations, including to trips to Russia, Costa Rica, England, and Mexico. In 1987, he visited China with a legal delegation led by Justice Broussard of the California Supreme Court.
Bob's greatest joy was his large and talented family, all of whom adored and admired him. With his family, he enjoyed trips to Arrowhead, celebratory barbeques, informal dinners and many special occasions. He was proud of having produced a brood that included two attorneys, three financial planners, a social worker, and the owner of a successful small business, among other industrious family members.
