Neville, Sheila K.

Age 59, was born in Milwaukee on January 24, 1955, died surrounded by her loving and caring family on June 9, 2014 at her home in South Pasadena, CA. Sheila was the devoted mother to her 16-year-old son Jesús Lawler. Sheila's
greatest joy and love of her life was raising Jesús into a wonderful young man. She is survived by her brothers Michael, John, Robert, David (Kari) and nieces Meghan, Katie, and nephew Bobby and many cousins. Her parents Paul and Ruth Neville preceded her in death.
Sheila received her bachelor's degree from Marquette University, a master's degree from UCLA and her law degree from George Washington University. Sheila practiced immigration law for 33 years. She began her law career at the Haitian Defense Refugee Center in Miami, Fl., followed by 30 years at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, CA. She was passionate about helping her clients with their legal and immigration issues. On April 1, 2014 Sheila was the recipient of the Freedom Network's Wellstone Award for her tireless volunteer efforts for the prevention of human trafficking. Sheila was also very involved with the fundraising efforts to assist the people of Haiti through Holy Family Church.
Visitation will be held at the Cabot and Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00am on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1527 Fremont Ave., South Pasadena.
The family wishes to thank all of Sheila's many dear friends and Dr. Mark McNamara and the staff at the USC Cancer Center for the compassionate care they provided during Sheila's courageous battle with cancer.
