Vivien Ragsdale died in Arcadia, California on February 2, 2013 at age 100. She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on
October 2, 1912 to Frank L. Buser and Verna M. Brock. Her appreciation for nature, which continued as a member of the Sierra Club later in life, was fostered by Cheley Camps in Colorado. Vivien attended Northwestern University where she earned her B.S. in psychology. She formed life-long friendships through her sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma. Vivien is pre-deceased by her husband, Robert Oaks Ragsdale, and her son, Lee Ragsdale. Her survivors include: her son, Richard Ragsdale, her grandchildren, Heather Ragsdale and Curtis Ragsdale, and her great-grandchildren, Enzo Goebel, Conrad Ragsdale, and Zane Ragsdale. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation in Vivien Ragsdale's name may be made to Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation.
