Dr. Ronnie Richards went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at his home in Pearland. His family and friends are comforted by the knowledge of his deep faith in Jesus and belief in the word of God, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." ~ John 3:16.
Ronnie was born July 8, 1941 in Houston, TX. After graduating from Pasadena High School in 1959, he attended both The University of Texas at Austin and the UT Dental Branch in Houston graduating in 1966. While in dental school he met the love of his life, Vicki, who was privileged to share her life with him for 47 years. He first practiced dentistry while serving in the United States Air Force. His service in the military began a lifelong love of country and appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. After being honorably discharged he and Vicki moved to the Sagemont area where he opened his own dental office. He practiced dentistry for 25 years until his retirement in 1992. Sagemont was not only home to his practice, but it was where he and Vicki found their church home of 45 years, Sagemont Baptist Church.
Ronnie loved spending time with his family and friends. If you knew Ronnie, you know that he never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. Strong in his opinions, but tender in his heart, he was a friend and encourager to all. He was a master story teller with a great sense of humor and was always there to lend a helping hand when needed.
He was able to pursue many diverse interests in his life; flying, offshore fishing, camping, RV'ing, riding motorcyles, and all with Vicki by his side. His most treasured times were spent on family camping trips and at "The Bay". He especially loved spending time with his grand kids. Ronnie indeed felt blessed.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, C.W. and June Richards; Vicki's parents, Al and Juanita Helmle; his nephew Trevor Randall and other beloved family members.
He is survived by his loving wife Vicki Richards; daughter, Tami King and her husband Steve; son, Rex Richards and his wife Tiffany; his grandchildren Ethan and Amber King, Nathan and Evelyn Richards along with cherished members of his extended family.
The funeral service was held 2:00pm Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Niday Funeral Home - Beamer Chapel. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Almeda Genoa.
