Barbara was born in Toledo, Washington to Leonce and Winifred LaRouche. She was the eldest of four children.
She spent most of her childhood in Toledo, Washington, and later moved to Port Townsend, where she graduated from Port Townsend High School.
She married Thomas Edgington on August 1, 1948, and moved to the Puget Sound area, and together, they raised three devoted sons, Thomas "Tommy," Frank and James "Jimmy," until Thomas' death in 1977.
Barbara worked as a bookkeeper for numerous agencies, including Madigan Dental Service, J.C. Penney, and Hi-Tech Tire & Wheel. Later, she was employed as a dealer/trader and driving vehicles to and from various dealerships.
Barbara was known for her generosity, her love of others and a strong family bond. She was active in her local church and was a member of both Port Townsend Elks Lodge No. 317 and South Tacoma Eagles No. 2933. She was a vigorous homemaker who loved to cook, bake, can, garden, camp and, most of all, fish.
She leaves behind her longtime loving companion, George Stanfield; two sons, Thomas (Marilyn) Edgington and James (Melody) Edgington; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her loving family surrounded her until Jesus called her home on July 15, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edgington; her son Frank Edgington; and her siblings, Yvonne Santino, Frank LaRouche and Catherine Bing.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Weeks' Dryer Mortuary, 220 South 134th Street, Tacoma, WA 98444.
