Port Angeles resident Diane Jorgenson died peacefully at home.

She was born September 11, 1931, in Fairbanks, Alaska, to Virginia Bing and S.E. Robbins. By 2½ years old, she was on skis.

In 1949, she graduated from Palo Alto High School, California, and attended Connecticut College for Women. She then transferred to the University of Colorado for two years, later moving with her family to London, where they lived for several years.

After returning from England, she married Jack Jorgenson in Highland Park, Illinois. They both contracted polio the following year but managed to overcome the most severe effects. They divorced in 1971.

She earned a master's degree in education from Florida Atlantic University.

Until her retirement in 1994, Mrs. Jorgenson taught high school math and science courses at Ely High School in Florida while raising her three children. She became interested in handwriting analysis and briefly served as an expert for a federal District Court judge.

During her years in Port Angeles, she was a member of the Clallam County Historical Society and volunteered for the Olympic Discovery Trail.

She is survived by her children, Kelly Jorgenson of Everett, Washington, Jennifer Jorgenson of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Sharon Powers of Marietta, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Allison C. Powers and Noah Miles Jorgenson.

At her request, there will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Angeles Education Foundation, P.O. Box 787, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
