Dora Cook, 81, passed away at her Sequim home after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Elmwood, Wisconsin, to Charles Gaylen and Edith Irene Lamon.
She graduated from Shelton High School in 1951.
Dora then married Lowell Franklin Cook on December 21, 1951, at the Methodist Church in Shelton, Washington.
After she raised six children, she worked for Tektronix in Portland, Oregon.
In 1979, she and her husband moved to the North Olympic Peninsula. She then became co-owner of Stow Away Mini Storage in Port Angeles.
She and Lowell traveled over 400,000 miles across the United States over the past 27 years. She also enjoyed her church activities, square dancing and many hours of quilting, cross stitching, knitting and crocheting afghans, blankets and baby sweaters.
She was a member of Sequim Bible Church, the Port Angeles Elks Lodge for over 46 years, Circle O Square Dance Club and Gideons International. She was also a lifetime member of Good Sam RV Club.
She leaves behind her husband, Lowell of Sequim; sons Terrance (Karen) Cook of Forest Grove, Oregon, and Mike Cook of Port Angeles; daughters Karen Sanders of Lincoln City, Oregon, Denise (Roy) Renner of Hillsboro, Oregon, Kathy Cook of Beaverton, Oregon, and Paula (Alan) Loghry of Port Angeles; brother David (Alice) Lamon of Port Angeles; sister Virginia (John) Musser of Port Angeles; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edith Lamon; son-in-law Donald Sanders; and granddaughter Pauline Sanders.
A visitation will be held at Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel, 108 West Alder Street, on Saturday, August 2, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. An 11 a.m. graveside service will take place at Sequim View Cemetery, 1505 Sequim-Dungeness Way, and a 1 p.m. memorial service will take place at Sequim Bible Church, 847 North Sequim Avenue, Sequim, WA 98382.
A reception will directly follow the memorial service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, 540 East Eighth Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362; or Sequim Bible Church.
