Jim, a proud native Seattleite, passed away Christmas Eve at his Quilcene Bay home, surrounded by family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; son Doug (Theresa) Christiansen; daughters Wendie (Richard) Schliebe and Michelle (Bret) Fleming; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
As the patriarch of a large extended family and a friend to many, he will be missed for his guidance, love and personal commitment to those in his life.
He graduated from the University of Washington and spent his professional career in educational administration at the UW and the Seattle Community College District in business and finance until he retired in 1994.
Jim enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling locally and around the world extensively, cooking creatively, reading and enjoying the beauty of his surroundings. He believed strongly in community volunteer efforts and gave considerable time and expertise to local causes during his retirement.
The beauty of nature in all seasons held a special place in his heart and spirit. Jim's favorite season, spring, will be the time for a party to celebrate his life.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Edmonds Conference Center, 201 Fourth Avenue North, Edmonds, WA 98020, www.EdmondsConferenceCenter.com.
