Jim Harvey was born in Portland on July 7, 1926, to Ralph and Leona Harvey. He went to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening, July 29, 2014.

Jim was raised in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Upon graduation, he served with the U.S. Navy from June 1944 to June 1946. He attended college in Oregon and earned a degree in business administration.

One of his first jobs was bookkeeper for the First Christian Church in Yakima. He then worked for Yakima Federal Savings & Loan and then Home Federal Savings & Loan in Yakima.

He and his wife, Pat, moved to Port Angeles in 1972 when Jim accepted a position with First Federal Savings & Loan, where he advanced to CEO and Chairman of the Board. Jim retired in 1996 at the age of 70.

Jim enjoyed traveling with Pat and they made several trips throughout the States and Europe. He especially enjoyed a riverboat cruise on the Mississippi and a cruise to Alaska.

When they weren't vacationing on the water, they enjoyed golfing while on vacation. Jim also golfed regularly with the men's group in Port Angeles for several years.

Jim was involved in civic organizations and especially enjoyed his involvement with the Rotary Club, for which he served as president in 1989-90.

He also was an accomplished singer and performed solos for numerous programs and events, and also enjoyed group singing, performing with Camarata Club in Yakima.

Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pat. Other survivors include his son, Greg (Wendy); grandchildren Mike (Amy) Colby, Carrie Colby, Brent (Sara) Colby, and Sam Harvey; great-grandchildren Jace, Brennan, Baudiccia, Scott, Kelsey and Jordynne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carol; and grandson-in-law, Steve.

He has been entrusted to care at Shaw & Sons of Yakima. Graveside services will be held today, Monday, August 4, at 10 a.m. at West Hills Memorial Park in Yakima.
