Pauline Cordua Gaestel, 100, of Sequim passed away January 28, 2013, in Port Angeles. She was born in Benicia, Calif., November 11, 1912.

She owned two restaurants, one in Sonoma, Calif., and one in Worland, Wyo. She was a dietitian for Sonoma California Hospital.

She moved to Sequim in 1979 and married Ted Cordua in 1982.

She was active on behalf of Veterans of Foreign Wars. For more than 20 years, she made potato salad and baked beans for the Coast Guard in Port Angeles on Veterans Day.

She is survived by her husband, Ted Cordua of Sequim. She also is survived by one daughter, Bev Morgan of Nevada City, Calif.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by Bernice Carlton, Frances Schooler, Fil Martin and Milfred Martin, all of California; sisters Eileen Fawns and Beverly Swearingen of Sequim; and numerous sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
