Phillip C. Collier (1939 - 2013)

Phillip was born in Ketchikan, Alaska; was raised and educated in Seattle, Washington; and lived in Port Angeles for the last 13 years of his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Collier; father Charles Coull; brother Meredith Collier; and sister Varya Nelson.

He is survived by his sister Elizebeth Neaville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phillip graduated from Garfield High in 1957. He worked for The Seattle Times before joining the Army, where he was stationed at Cape Canaveral, Florida, and finally in Germany. After his discharge, he graduated from the University of Washington.

Phillip worked for the Washington state Department of Employment Security until his retirement.

In Seattle, Phillip volunteered to read for the blind and in Port Angeles at the senior center. He was a member of the Newcomers' Club, the German Club and Baha'i Faith.

His love of music, pianos, literature and especially food were well-known to his family and his many friends. We will all miss him very much.

Phillip will be buried at Edmonds Cemetery next to his parents. He requested no funeral, but we will honor him with a celebration of life on Saturday, January 18, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lake Washington Rowing Club, 910 North Northlake Way, Seattle, WA 98103.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Center Valley Animal Rescue, 11900 Center Road, Quilcene, WA 98376.
