William L. Parkins Jr., 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie, who lives in Sequim; and his brother, Dean (LaVon) Parkins of Burien, Washington. Bill is also survived by his nieces, Amy Dehnert, Holly Morris and Clair Wilson; nephew Kent Parkins; and 20 other grandnieces and grandnephews.
In high school, he edited the West Seattle annual, the Kimtah.
Bill was a graduate of the University of Washington in 1950.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the destroyer USS Owen.
Following the war, he worked briefly for Boeing. After his Boeing experience, he taught high school English in Vancouver, Washington.
He retired from teaching early to take care of his ill wife, Alice Emel, to whom he was married for 36 years.
He later married Jennie Marquette, to whom he was married for 29 years.
He worked at the gas station and bulk foods at the local Sequim Safeway and, in the last few years, at the post office as Pony Express.
Bill was an avid train man and built a whole room for his trains.
He will be missed by all who knew him, especially by his warm smile.
