Amon Adams, 72 of Gulf Breeze FL., died July 18, 2012. Born July 31, 1939 near Paxton, FL. Tall and strong, Amon played on the Paxton HS basketball team and graduated in 1958.
As a young man Amon joined the US Navy, serving in a unit like today's Navy Seals. While stationed in Nice, France he met Elisabeth Hugues. They were married October 9, 1961 celebrating their 50 year anniversary October 2011. Three sons were born to this union, Alan, who died as an infant, Phillip (Mary), Lees Summit, MO and Robert, Gulf Breeze, FL.
Amon served several years as the Fire Chief in Crestview FL., where he earned many awards and commendations. He joined Exxon as a field worker and advanced to overseeing and coordinating the Safety Operations for Exxon throughout the South Eastern United States. Upon retirement, Amon and Elisabeth built their dream mountain home in Red Lodge Montana. They enjoyed fly fishing in the cool mountain streams and hiking.
Amon returned home to FL. to care for aging parents. Here he stayed returning to Montana for many summers where he continued to enjoy hiking and fishing in the mountains.
He will be missed by his wife, sons and many step, grand and great-grand children.
