DR. ARNOLD

ROBERT BABCOCK

Pensacola, Florida. Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away November 16, 2013 at the age of 92 years. Arnold R. Babcock Jr., was born August 18, 1921 in Saginaw the son of the late Arnold and Frances (Springer) Babcock. He was married to Vivian Shirley Kline, his loving wife, for 62 years. Vivian preceded him in death. Arnold joined the United States Army during World War II, serving from 1942 through 1946. He earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan in 1952, and practiced dentistry in Saginaw for 35 years before retiring to Edenville, Michigan, and later to Pensacola, Florida. While in Michigan, Arnold & Vivian were active members of the First Presbyterian Church - Saginaw, First Presbyterian Church - Beaverton, the Saginaw Y.M.C.A., Bay City Yacht Club, and the Saginaw Bay Power Squadron. In Pensacola they were active with the Northminster Presbyterian Church, the Pensacola Sail and Power Squadron, Elks Club, and other organizations. Arnold joined the Pensacola State College, School of Dental Hygiene as an Adjunct Professor for several years. Arnold and Vivian will be forever remembered for their humanitarian services provided across the world as members of the Rotary International, Suburban West Rotary of Pensacola. They completed 23 one month volunteer missions of mercy to make dental treatment available in remote areas of China, India, Africa, Brazil, Jamaica, Guatemala, and Mexico. Surviving are his children Dr. Robert A. Babcock and Susan Blume-Babcock, Auburn, AL.; Mark W. and Becky Babcock, Saginaw, MI.; Deborah Lambrix, Grand Rapids, MI.; and Colonel (USAF-retired) Bruce D. and Amy Babcock, Alexandria, VA.; a great part of our family Bob and Norma Wilder: eight grandchildren, Adrienne and Zane Blume-Babcock; Jill, Mark and Katie Babcock; Timothy and Christopher Lambrix: and Carson Babcock. Arnold was preceded in death by a daughter Margaret (Peggy). At Arnold's request cremation has taken place. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Suburban West Rotary Club, the Rev. Dr. Keith L. Posehn, Northminster Presbyterian Church Pensacola, Clark Retirement Community Grand Rapids, Spectrum Health Hospice staff, and the members of First United Methodist Church of Grand Rapids.
