Cheryl Diane Jenkins, 57, a Certified Public Accountant and Consultant, transitioned Sunday, March 23, 2014, in North Brunswick, New Jersey.
The service will be held at 12:00 p.m. EDT, Tuesday, April 1, at Bethel AME Church in Tallahassee, where Rev. Dr. Julius H. McAllister, Jr. is the Senior Minister, and Rev. Dr. W. Frank Williams of Sanford, FL will deliver the eulogy. She was born August 18, 1956, in Sanford, FL to Dr. Elmer Jenkins and the late Mary Blocker Jenkins. She was a native of Pensacola where she graduated from Woodham High School with high honors in 1974. She received her B.S. in Business Administration (concentration in Accounting) from the University of Florida in 1978, where she had the distinction of being UF's first Black cheerleader. She was a resident of North Brunswick, NJ, for the past 35 years, where she devoted her professional and personal life to furthering minority, women and cultural causes. She was a member of the North Stelton AME Church in Piscataway, NJ.
Survivors include her father Dr. Elmer Jenkins (Laura) of Pensacola; three sisters, Cassandra D. Jenkins and Connie E. Jenkins-Pye (Benjamin) of Tallahassee, and LaKeshia T. Jenkins of Atlanta, GA; two aunts, Dr. Susie Robinson (Freddie Sr.) of Pembroke Pines and Alder M. Craig of Lake Mary; and numerous cousins, dear friends and godchildren.
