Clyde Thomas Taylor

1924 - 2014

Clyde Thomas Taylor, age 90, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at a local hospital in Orlando, Florida.

He was born and raised in Wichita Falls, TX, and joined the military in 1943, serving his country in the South Pacific as a nose gunner during WWII. After the war, Clyde resumed his studies and eventually earned a Masters in Education from the University of Oklahoma. It was during this period that he married Leona Frances Riddle, the love of his life. In 1951, he joined the U.S. Air Force and had a number of stateside and overseas assignments working primarily as a Communications and Electronics Engineer. Clyde retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1974 and moved to Pensacola, Florida where he worked as an Adjunct Professor at Pensacola Junior College and subsequently as a residential contractor.

Clyde was a caring and very giving father and grandfather. He was a member of Scenic Hills Church of Christ, where he was known for sending birthday cards, an engaging smile, and a caring heart.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda and Cindy; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Cindy; and grandchildren Laura and Steven (Kristin). He was preceded in death by his wife Leona, and married for 58 years.

Visitation will be 12:00 to 1:00PM Friday, April 25, 2014 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, FL. A graveside service will immediately follow at 2:00PM at Barrancas National Cemetery, with Minister Kyle Rye presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Scenic Hills Church of Christ.
